a nice night out on the beach tonight, but no turtles in our survey area. part of the area we do survey when we can get to it, is Singer Island. in the past few years, there has been severe erosion along that beach and at high tide we are not able to pass by on the ATV. these past few nights have been like that. about an hour ago, I was finally able to take a run down there, and saw that there had been two leatherbacks earlier in the evening. from their tracks in the sand (crawls) it looked like they nested just at high tide, and left just as the tide was starting to fall (around 2 am). wish they'd chosen where we were.

last night ended up being a two-turtle night - Chris is going to write about the second turtle later on...
